Keeping It Real

It came to my attention recently, through a thread on a Facebook Page, that by writing ‘it’ down it becomes real. The Blog has been quiet again. I’ve been so busy with work and living life that it’s often hard to write. It’s not easy to put pen onto paper when my head is spinning with all I have on the go and the Blog always seems the first thing to fall to the wayside. I have been writing this blog for almost 4 years now, and in those 4 years you can likely count on one hand how many times we’ve gone anywhere… This IS supposed to be a Sailing Blog, but I hate to admit that there is really little sailing going on.

I really shouldn’t be so hard on myself. We knew when we purchased the boat that it would be years before we cast off the lines, and set off on our intended voyage. Yet, slowly but surely, by going nowhere at all we are almost at the point where we are almost ready to be ready to depart.  Old boats need work and then more work… and we still need to live life. Luckily for us, working in the Marine Industry on our local harbour, we spend plenty of time on the water… day after day we ride a boat, to a boat to a boat. At times, we are dizzy with our unending boating schedules.

However, we have been making progress with the boat with some serious work on the horizon. A haul out namely, Monster is overdue for a paint job, and then the brightwork. I’ve been working away on boat cards that need a few minor tweeks before printing. We also replaced our dock lines and furling lines over the winter. There’s solar panels and a desalinator in the works. Quite importantly, debts are being paid off. And my Sailing playlist? Well, that was ready ages ago.

We are keeping it real… it’s all just a matter of time. I simply need to continue to remind myself of that.
